THIS WEEK it is highly recommended that you engage in each activity including the readings in order. Note that the two part video series in this topic focuses on the applications of bureaucratic theory to structuring organizations and assessing how structure impacts behavior. Attention is paid to the unique environment of public organizations and how this dynamic can also influence effectiveness sometimes at the expense of public involvement.

- Draw a redesigned organization and discuss how you reorganized the county structure seen in the Org. chart from Walton County (there is a link to it below). In your discussion include how you addressed the three principles that we discuss in these videos:
A- Unity of Leadership,
B- Departmentalization, and
C- Span of Control.
D- Read up on “line and staff functions”. How do you propose to deal with these issues in your reorganization?
