SCR 1325 was part of a trend of making non-traditional topics germane to the work of the Security Council, which had previously emphasized conflict, civil war, war crimes, independence movements, and other “traditional” security threats. SCR 1308 (HIV/AIDS), SCR 1674 (humanitarian intervention), and others followed suit. What do you think of this trend? Should the Security Council “securitize” such topics or focus on more traditional security threats? (Be sure to reference which article you read in your comments)
