Begin body of the paper here. Paper is double spaced. When inserting a quotation, introduce the quotation with a formal tag or embed it “smoothly within your sentence.” Click on the “References” tab in the top of Word and then on “Insert Footnote” to get the superscript footnote number 1 as above. Do the same thing with a quotation for subsequent quotation “that you use in your paper.”
Word will automatically create the footnote in the footer area at the bottom of the page with the appropriate space according to how much text is typed in the body of the paper. When you format your footnotes (as in #1 and #2 below), be sure to CHANGE the font to Times New Roman and 10 point font which is different than the size in the body of your paper.
Finally, indent the first line of every footnote. The footnote cited in number 1 below is an example from the BrainyQuote.Com that is a great site to use to find quotations for the hook for your paper. The second quotation illustrates how to cite a short story that is an electronic source found on a website. Notice that the story does not have page numbers, so para. is used to denote which paragraph a particular quotation comes from.
The 3rd page of the paper is supposed to include the first “visible” page number, which is 2 to indicate the 2nd page of text.

*The BIBLIOGRAPHY page does not have a page number. The title is in all caps. Bibliography entries are formatted differently than footnotes. See page F1 – F11 in the SOTM Manual of Style found in the Turabian folder under Course Syllabus/Tutorial/Resources to see how footnotes are done (left side of chart) versus how a bibliography entry is done (right side of chart). Entries are single spaced with a double space between entries. The 2nd line is indented.
You can also see a number of different TYPES of sources to understand how each footnote and bibliography entry should be written for those.
