By completing this 6-8-page paper, students will analyze the connection of one of the leading causes of disease described in Healthy People 2020 with the social determinants of health and its impact across the lifespan.

Papers should include the following discussions: Description of the disease of a system covered in the syllabus (Lupus) Symptomology Who is affected Age factors Causes of the disease Risk factors Treatment options Disparities that exist due to the social determinants of health (what and why? specific groups?) What needs to change for the identified groups to improve health and wellness across the lifespan in terms of this disease and why?
