Horror and Fantasy Genre Infographic

In the last few classes we have examined the Horror and Fantasy Genres and explored several types of texts and films. For this assignment select your favourite movie or novel that discusses the Horror or Fantasy Genre.

Some ideas or examples would include:

• The Thief of Always
• The Mangler
• Works by Stephen King
• The Shape of Water
• The Chronicles of Narnia
• The Lord of the Rings
• Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
• Pan’s Labyrinth
• Beowulf
• The Wizard of Oz

1) Select the novel/movie that you would like to focus on that adheres to the genre of either horror or fantasy. It does not have to be a novel/movie covered in class.

2) Research the novel/movie’s characters, plot, and themes.

3) Create an infographic that details the novel/movie’s characters, plot and themes.

4) In order to create an infographic, complete the following steps:

• Google search the word Venngage
• Create a free account and log in
• Select a free template of your choice
• Add unique text, pictures and content that are in alignment with the horror or fantasy genre
• Add headings that focus on the title of your movie/novel, the main characters, plot and themes
• Adding text, photos and backgrounds can all be found on the far left-hand side of the navigation screen
• On the topic navigation screen, you can find features where you can adjust font, colour, size of font, and the delete button is the mini trash can icon.
• If you need to add a page, there is a plus button on the far righthand side
• When you complete your infographic click publish.
• Under the publish tab there is a URL button in blue
• The URL link is publicly visible
• Once you are done send the published URL to pathwayassistant@gmail.com

Marking Checklist – 35 Marks Total

• Title of novel/movie – 5 marks
• Topic selected focuses on horror or fantasy genre – 5 marks
• Include name, date, course name, course code – 5 marks
• Plot, characters, themes are presented in a clear and concise manner – 5 marks
• Pictures are present and describe content – 5 marks
• Titles and subtitles are presented in a clear manner – 5 marks
• Infographic is clear and publicly visible – 5 marks
