Your journal entry should be two to four paragraphs in length using concise language to convey your message.  In your journal entries, please include items that were significant to your learning and growth in the class, and/or your thoughts and opinions on the class exercise, discussion, or lecture and how you have been able to apply them in the real world.  We expect to see your thoughtful reflection regarding your learning and skills development with reference to independent sources of information such as articles from credible publications.

Please feel free to provide input on helpful teaching tips or training methods you have experienced in the past, suggestions to improve the current exercises and workshops, or other such positive and constructive comments.  I am also interested to hear how your new learning from the classroom has served you not only at work, but in your life in general to effectively communicate with others.

Use the following prompts to assist you. Remember, business communication is about conveying ideas using crisp, clear, concise language.   

In each journal, state how important continual learning and development in the areas you identify is important to your success in our international business world.

What was/were the most challenging/most interesting idea(s) / concept(s) / piece(s) of information you encountered this week? 

What thoughts / worries / concerns did you have regarding this? 

What was your “ah-ha moment”? At what point did you really truly understand something about business communications? 

Describe the impact of this insight?

Name one or two ways you will apply what you’ve learned, or you have applied what you learned.

These journal entries are important to you in reflecting on what you have learned and practiced in our lessons, and how continual development in these areas will impact your career success. Your personal reflection will help reinforce and develop concepts and skills taught in this course.

Please write your entries in sentence form and utilize the writing techniques covered in your text and in class.
