INTRODUCTION
____Does the introduction include a thesis about the primary source (“Sonny’s Blues” or Hunger of Memory)? Note that it is normal for there not to be a clear thesis at this point. Just be frank with your partner.
____Does the introduction have a plot summary of the primary text, or a biography of the writer? (Not good if yes. Let your partner know to take all that out.)

BODY PARAGRAPHS
____Does each body paragraph focus on ONE main idea (a subordinate idea) that supports the thesis? Or does the paragraph have no clear point or too many points? Note that it is normal for paragraphs to be disorganized at this stage. Just be honest with your partner.
____Does each body paragraph have quotations from the primary source?
____Does each body paragraph have quotations from a secondary source?
