The two chosen musicians in American music are Reser Harry, popularly known for popular jazz, and Jordan Louis, who was famous for blues (R&B). In jazz music, syncopation, blue notes, swing, and call and answer are standard features.  Improvisation and Polyrhythms are other common features of jazz. As a piece of popular or colloquial music, jazz has generally been recognized as a complex art that has dramatically impacted the concert venue’s music. Blues is a kind of music characterized by conventional blues chord progressions, scaling, and emotional lyrics, usually played by a single guitarist, vocalist, or duo. Chords, including the 12-bar blues, are performed to a story about the trials and tribulations of life: maltreatment, hardship, and loss of love. This paper will compare and contrast popular jazz by Reser Harry and Blues music by Jordan Louis.
