- Complete the required reading, specifically the theories of leadership and characteristics of a leaders
- Review the rubric
- Complete the Clinical Practice Experience Contract and identify the leader you will be interviewing
- Identify the leadership approach that is predominant in your workplace
- What are the strengths and weaknesses of this approach as it is demonstrated in your workplace?
- Identify and interview a leader with whom you have worked with in either your current position or a previous position, who demonstrates effective leadership.
- Possible questions to ask include:
- What is your leadership style?
- What are two important characteristics of an effective leader?
- What are the three most common issues that you need to manage?
- How do you manage the everyday issues?
- Reflect on the characteristics the person portrayed making them a successful leader.
- Write a 2-3 page biography about the person you identified as an effective leader.
- Describe the characteristics displayed by this person, how that leadership style improved patient outcomes, and the leadership characteristics and theory (theories) that are exemplified in this person’s leadership.
- Be sure to follow APA style formatting and include both a title and reference page, with a minimum of two references.
