Annotated Bibliography
You will pick a topic that will be the focus of the paper due later in the session. You will find at least three journal articles related to psychological concepts that can be applied to your topic. Use the guiding activity that we did in class and refer to the slides related to finding/reading journal articles (available on UIUlearn) if you are having trouble refining your topic or finding and understanding articles.
At least TWO articles must be from psycinfo/psycarticles. All journal articles must be empirical (i.e., with a methods and results section) and from peer-reviewed journals. *Tip: if there is no doi, it is likely not from a peer-reviewed journal (might be a dissertation/thesis or might be from a less reputable journal).
FORMATTING: For each article, you will write the APA style reference, followed by a paragraph summary. Focus on the big picture conclusions and feel free to include any extra notes about how the journal article relates to your topic. Organize the articles as you would organize a traditional APA style reference section (alphabetically by author last name).
Excellent (10-5)
Good(5-3)

Near perfect APA style implementation. References are accurate and include all necessary information
Inconsistent APA style with some common, minor errors (e.g., lacking doi, no hanging indent)
In text citations missing and references poorly executed
Excellent (5-2)
Good(2-1)
Poor (0)
Article Selection
Directions followed – all peer-reviewed, empirical articles. At least two from psychological journals.
At least one non-empirical or non-scholarly source. Possible lack of psychological journals in the selection of articles.
No journal articles found. All resources seem found via google search and are not empirical
Excellent (15-7)
Good(7-4)
Poor (2-0)
Article Summaries
Articles summarized accurately in your own words. May note relationship between article and topic. Focus on the predictions and findings, not on methods or participants.
Obvious effort in summaries but actual findings of article are not described clearly. May be some unnecessary detail related to procedure.
Summary does not include any information beyond the abstract or is so abstract that it provides little information.
