HE 33 STRESS MANAGEMENT FINAL PROJECTS

Mandalas and Vision Board

Mandalas – go on line and print two mandalas to color. Choose any mandala that “speaks” to you. Color it with colored pencils, while listening to soothing meditative music. Allow yourself to do this in a quiet space, give yourself AT LEAST 1 HOUR for each mandala. Choose music that resonates with you, nature sounds, Om chanting, Gregorian chants, classical piano music, sonatas, or any music that you find relaxing. Choose different music for each of the mandalas you do.

Then write a one page essay describing what you learned/enjoyed from this experience. If you did not like it, explain why, and if you did, also be specific what about it was helpful. Compare the difference, if any, between the two times you did the mandalas, effect of different music, the mandala itself, your mood, space, time of day, etc.

Vision Board – create a vision board (approximately 24 inches by 24 inches) on foam core board, oaktag, cardboard, construction paper, whatever is readily available. Use any pictures, quotes, images, things you want to include on the board that are meaningful to you. Purpose is to create a VISUAL IMAGE of what makes you happy, relaxed, at ease. May be for your future or now, or any purpose that is meaningful to you.

Write a one page essay about the experience, what you learned about yourself, if it was helpful, why or why not…be specific in your reflections. Please include why you chose the pictures, words, phrases that you placed on your vision board. Be as creative and expressive as you want…it must be done as a collage, not a digital presentation. You can use pictures, images cut from magazines or printed from the internet, but it must be hand done by you…you can glue, paste, tape, or staple the images onto the board you chose. Feel free to add color, and any decorations to make it a representation of YOU…

Both projects will require you to take a picture of each and submit to me. If it is difficult to ATTACH on Blackboard, then upload the essay only to Blackboard and email me the pictures of your completed mandalas and vision board to my email (mbracco@kbcc.cuny.edu), Please be sure your name appears on your essay, mandalas and vision board. ENJOY!!!
