Facial recognition is a digital technology that NYPD uses to compare images obtained during criminal investigations with lawfully possessed arrest photos. Violent crimes are criminal activities in which force, intimidation, or the threat of harm is used against another person. These crimes typically involve direct physical harm or the credible threat of physical harm. Common examples of violent crimes include: homicides, robberies, or abductions. To measure (FRT) will increase the number of arrests for violent crimes, I must find put the ratio of the number of arrests through quantitative data. To measure if New Yorkers feel safe with the integration of facial recognition into the communities it is necessary to use ordinal measurement by sending out surveys asking questions like how safe New Yorkers feel after the implementation of (FRT)? Or does the presence of (FRT) makes NYers feel safer from suspicious criminal activities?

The use of face recognition cameras by the NYPD in New York City increases in the police department’s case clearance rate.

To measure the improvement of case clearance by the NYPD as a result of (FR)cameras, it is crucial to investigate the number of arrests and clearance by navigating the BJS and NYPD’s websites.
