Think of a job or position you now hold or have previously held (in behavior analysis or not). What supervision practices did your supervisor engage in? Did their supervisory practices align with the BACB code? How could they have improved?

Before landing a job in behavior analysis, how might you ensure that you will receive effective supervision prior to accepting the position?

Consider this result from Hajaghamohseni, Drasgow, and Wolfe (2021): “We found that respondents who had been certified for less than 2 years consistently self-reported lower frequencies of engaging in recommended behaviors in 5.01 Supervisory Competence than respondents who had been certified for at least 5 years.” In light of this result, what can you do now, in graduate school, to make it more likely that you will engage in effective supervision when you become certified?

Consider the behavioral recommendations by Helvey, Thuman, and Cariveau (2021). What behaviors that they list do you engage in at your current job (behavior analytic or not)? Is there anything you do, not mentioned in the article, that you think is effective at promoting effective supervision?
