The city of Foley, strategically located in south Baldwin County, Alabama, plays a pivotal role in the lower southeastern portion of the state. Positioned approximately 50 miles southeast of Mobile and the same distance northwest of Pensacola Beach, Florida, Foley is a gateway to both these vibrant destinations. With the Gulf of Mexico a mere 10 miles due south, Foley’s proximity to the white sandy beaches of Alabama’s gulf coast is a key driver of the tourism industry in this small, quaint southern town.

Foley, Alabama

Foley, situated close to Alabama’s Gulf Coast, is a family-friendly town of about 22,000 people and has an approximate size of 32 square miles. It is named after its founder, John B. Foley of Chicago. It has been recorded that Mr. Foley was traveling to President McKinley’s funeral and passed through the area we now know as Foley and saw the potential for future growth and development. He purchased 50,000 acres, arranged for the railroad to be built, and Foley became the economic hub of south Baldwin County. Although the railroad no longer exists, Foley’s proximity to the interstate highways and deep-water shipping ports keeps Foley a staple in the economic development in the area, as it has been since its incorporation in 1915. (city of foley.org, n.d.) Foley and the surrounding areas depend upon the tourism industry, and tourism drives the economic growth in the area. Foley has expanded in recent years with new businesses and attractions in the entertainment and hospitality industry to support the tourism demand signal. This economic and population growth, mild climate, and prime location make Foley an ideal location for ACME Medical Center.

Scenario and data collection

Among the various scenarios, I have selected Scenario “C”: Creating a culture of customer service in the emergency room.

Objectives:

-Develop a training program for ER staff to provide excellent customer service

-Improve patient satisfaction in the ER

-Provide safe and effective patient care

-Decrease the wait times in the ER

Deliverables:

-Describe the content of the training program for ER staff

-Submit a tool to measure patient satisfaction in the ER pre & post implementation of training

-Provide sources of measurable standards for quality patient care in the ER
