There will be a group assignment in the format of PowerPoint Presentation. The context of the presentation should be an analysis of a current topic specific to the area of Supply Chain 3 Management and the role of Strategic Purchasing as a means to affect change (either to drive positive results or to avoid negative impacts).

Topics can include but are not limited to technical trends in purchasing, current issues such as global outsourcing, or specific company projects involving strategic purchasing decisions/dilemmas. Topics must be approved by the instructor in advance. The presentation must include several trade and industry references to demonstrate a level of research into current thinking on supply chain issues.

Near the end of the course, each group shall make a presentation of their topic and subsequent analysis. The oral report should consist of a PowerPoint presentation of your work (providing enough detail about your work to make it coherent). The emphasis should be on sharing your insights regarding what you have learned and its application to real world problems.

The presentations should contain at least these components/sections in your slides: 1) Introduction and background of the topic 2) Analysis of key issues/problems/opportunities 3) Discussion of the topic and explanation of how strategic purchasing could allow a firm to either improve their performance or avoid a negative impact related to the topic using knowledge learned in class/text
Each team member must present a specific portion of the presentation, and the team presentation should be around 15 minutes in length
