According to the LA Times, 1.3 million jobs have been lost over the last month because of the COVID-19 crisis and only 45% of LA county residents are now employed. What kind of guidance would John Stuart Mill offer contemporary LA leaders who want to navigate this economic crisis in an ethical manner? Does the crisis reveal any weaknesses of utilitarian theory?
