Personal construct theory infers that we develop personal constructs about how the world works.
Personal construct theory infers that we develop personal constructs about how the world works. We then use these constructs to understand our observations and experiences. The world we live in is the same for all of us, but the way we experience it is different for each individual. Instead of using concepts made up by psychologists to understand people, personal construct psychology tries to understand people in their own terms.
For example, imagine that you and your friend are going for a walk and you spot a white fluffy cat. You immediately see a cute and adorable animal that you would like to pet. Your friend, however, sees an animal that is terrifying and that she wants to avoid. You both were at the same place but experiences were totally different because of your own personal construct.
Provide an example of how you and another individual were at the same event but had different experiences. What do you think influenced or helped shape your personal construct? Why do you think your experiences were different? Support your perspective with at least 2 scholarly articles.
