Your paper will need to consider the following question:
Should we ban production and sale of all e-cigarettes in this country?
You will need to address each of the following (See Rubric):
(1) Explanation of problem, question, conflict or issue
You will need to explain how this is a problem for consideration by the public. Identify and summarize the main issues here.
(2) Evidence – Selecting and using information to investigate a point of view or conclusion
So, you should be sure to discuss:
effects a ban would have on the economy
the advantages/benefits of e-cigarettes
the disadvantages/risks of e-cigarettes the components of e-cigarettes and the effects of the major components on the body
what regulations currently exist regarding the production and sale of e-cigarettes
additional pertinent information
For the paper you will need to address Advantages/Disadvantages (i.e. Benefits/Risks) of e-cigarettes. Your paper must contain advantages and disadvantages. You can’t choose to do only one. There must be some of each, since people choose to smoke, and others decide not to smoke.
(3) Influence of context and assumptions – (i.e. cultural/social, educational, technological, political, scientific, economic, ethical, personal experience)
You will need to gather references and generate evidence-based conclusions. Identify the contexts and assumptions that are made regarding this issue. There are many sides to an issue. Discuss the reasons why some would be in favor, and the reasons why some in our society would be against its legalization.
(4) Student’s position :
You will need to give the position you have taken on the question. But, you will need to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your position.
(5) Justify your position using data that you have found in your research.
(6) Conclusions and related outcomes
You will need to consider the implications and related outcomes from the position you’re taking. Discuss what possible effects might come out of your decision.

Truth initiative E-cigarettes: Facts, stats and regulations

Following years of successful tobacco control efforts that achieved record low youth smoking, e-cigarettes have driven total youth tobacco use to rates unseen in decades. Current, or past 30-day, use of e-cigarettes among high school students increased from 11.7% to 27.5% between 2017 and 2019, driving overall tobacco use among high school students to 31.2%.1-3 The most recent data from 2020 show that high school students continue to use e-cigarettes at epidemic levels, with 1 in 5 (19.6%) vaping in the past 30 days, and that the intensity of use has increased with 38.9% of current users reporting vaping on 20 or more days per month.
The format for the report will be as follows:
Cover page with:
Title
Your Name
Day and time of class
Date submitting report
Report: Summarize: summary of what you have learned from papers. Be sure to use proper site references in the body of your paper.
Bibliography List of articles you used. This will be a separate page. Please use APA style format. Give the complete web address if using the internet.
This paper will require at least 6 references (papers, articles, books, web sites. etc.).
The paper must be at least three pages in length.
It should be single spaced (with double space between paragraphs). Please note that most recent Microsoft Word software already provides for double spacing when you hit the return for a paragraph. So, do not hit return a second time.
Use the Calibri font and font size of 11.
It should be left justified.
The borders are to be one inch from the top/bottom and one inch left and right margins. You must have a title page (as noted above), but on the written three pages there are to be no title/name aspects.
Use APA style format for the in-text citations, as well as for the bibliography at the end.
Having you submit your paper in digital form will reduce paper use, and will allow me to easily check spacing, font, font size, etc. Also, I will be able to use software such as SafeAssign to check for plagiarism. Remember, plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty and will result in your failure in this course. Also, the matter will be sent to the college administration for any additional action they feel is appropriate.
Remember that the title page and bibliography page are separate. Your citations need to be made in the paper. If you quote someone, this needs to be in quotes, but your paper should not be composed of 50% quotes. In other words, it needs to be your paper.
