I was naturally drawn to pursue medicine as a course because of the different problems that I witnessed most of my neighbours going through. My friend’s dad had cancer and he would need to attend checkups almost biweekly. I felt there was the need to pursue medicine and gain the understanding that would enable me to be of help to others in my community. I was also taking care of my grandfather, who was suffering from type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Whenever I was conversing with him, thiazide inhibitors and drugs to treat type 2 diabetes were the conversation starters. I always felt sorry for my old man. He had a sense of humour and loved to read novels.

I always took for granted the quality of care that we would receive every time we attended the hospital, the services that physicians would offer as I believed that every person needed to receive quality care. Pursuing medicine and now Master in Health Administration has made me appreciate the importance of providing care to people at all cost. I can now understand the effectiveness of physicians and nurses in ensuring that patients are carefully taken care of whenever they visit the healthcare facility. I feel that I am now obligated to ensure that I provide quality care to people of my community through ensuring effective management, delivery and also effective clinical operations.

From as early as junior high, I was always fascinated to take subjects that would ensure that once I joined the college, I would undertake a course in human health. I was doing great in sciences but was fascinated more on biology, a subject I believed had a secure connection with human anatomy and health.

As such, undertaking a masters in health administration is not only a goal come true but also a game-changer in that it will help me accomplish the goals that I have always set. The course will qualify me to undertake different jobs in the healthcare industry. I will be able to achieve the ever high demand for healthcare management in the rising numbers of senior citizens and also ensure that I manage and care for people of different walks of life whom will be depending on me to ensure that their health is of better quality. Masters in health administration will also give me an added advantage, mainly while dealing with vulnerable populations, allowing me to integrate different experiences into the healthcare delivery systems and increased focus on intensive and also preventive care.

Having a master’s degree health administration will act as a backbone in ensuring that I have an extensive opportunity to conduct different research about human health, the best ways that can be used to improve human health, understanding what can be done to improve the welfare of people in my community and also the different awareness that I can apply in protecting them against infectious diseases pandemics. I believe that the system in the country is strong enough to allow one to pursue different fields in MHA which would only make me more competent and be able to deal with various aspects of health and administration. This is vital as it would allow the system to be dynamic and robust in terms of the services I offer to the people. As an administrator, it would be my mandate to ensure that I provide quality care to patients and have an efficient system that is aimed at improving the quality of life. I want to ensure that my community can receive the immediate care that they require, and particularly among the vulnerable population.
