Trade Regulations

  • A flat consumption tax rate of 10% is charged on a wide range of products. However, additional taxes are levied on tobacco and liquor products.
  • It has restrictions on the importations of explosives, narcotics, firearms, counterfeit currency, and pornography, among other items that violate the intellectual property laws.
  • Labeling of goods is a requirement that is mainly done at the point of sale and less regarded at the customs. Labeling on the country of origin is not a fundamental requirement except for foods and beverages that should show the right information.
