Assignment Submission Checklist

This checklist is by no means comprehensive. It is intended to guide you in the right direction though ultimately, it is your responsibility to submit work on time and according to the course guidelines. If you have any questions regarding submissions, please email me well in advance of the Due Date. Remember, I only respond to emails Monday – Thursday (excluding holidays).

• Is your submission formatted in MLA style? Have you included a HEADING: Name, instructor’s name, course ticket number, date, word count? Have you included a HEADER (different from heading) in the upper right corner of the document? This should include your last name and page number. Is the paper double-spaced? If submitting reading responses, are your responses numbered? Each submission not formatted in MLA style will receive a minimum 5 point deduction.

• Does your essay have an original title? You must have a title that reflects the direction of your thesis. For example, you SHOULD NOT simply title your essay American Dream Essay. A better title would be The Unattainable American Dream. Poor titles will result in a 5 point deduction.

• Remember… In this course you SHOULD NOT use 1^st or 2^nd person point of view (POV). For example, you should not use the phrase “I think”, “I believe”, or anything with the “I” pronoun (1^st person POV), unless you are quoting an outside source. The same goes for “You” (2^nd person POV). This applies to reading responses and essays. Use of 1^st person POV and/or 2^nd person POV will result in a minimum 5 point deduction from each assignment.

• Have you remembered to include a WORD COUNT? This should appear beneath your HEADING (not the header) on the first page of your submission. Assignments submitted without a word count will receive a minimum 5 point deduction.

• Make sure you are submitting your completed work to the correct Drop Box on Blackboard (Bb). Make sure it is the version of the assignment you wish to submit, not a draft or incorrectly formatted version. You have one shot at this, so take your time and get it right. You MAY NOT re-submit assignments for any reason. You MAY NOT submit assignments to my email. These will not be graded. Assignments submitted to the incorrect Drop Box will receive a minimum 5 point deduction. Assignments submitted to my email, unless authorized by me, will automatically receive a failing grade.

• Is your submission on time? If not, don’t bother! Remember, I DO NOT accept late work.

It is essential that your assignment be submitted correctly the first time. You may not submit multiple drafts of assignments.
