Read Chapter 16 from out text, review the PowerPoint presentation on The War on Drugs (you will find the PP presentation to be a very helpful condensation of the chapter).

Then, answer the following question:

Essay length: 300 word minimum. Discuss issues related to the War on Drugs which began during the Nixon administration, was accelerated under Presidents Reagan and Clinton in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and continues to the present time. Compare and contrast the success of law enforcement interdiction efforts to the success of treatment approaches utilized in community-based corrections, particularly specialty courts, in reducing drug abuse in the United States. (You will find helpful information about these programs in the PowerPoint presentation on The War on Drugs.)

You are to write your paper in Word. Your paper should be double-spaced, times new roman, 12 point font, page numbers in top right hand corner.
