Journal Article Summary and Presentation

Topic: Working With LGBTQ Population
Students will research and select an article on a topic of interest to the student. Students are
encouraged to consider a topic that focuses on culturally responsive treatment or an adaptation of
a treatment protocol. Students will then write a summary of the article and provide
a brief presentation on the article during the live session.
Students are encouraged to see www.counseling.org for a list of American Counseling
Association journals that students can use to research an article. Any articles that are used should
not be more than 10 years old.
The written summary should be a two-page, double-spaced synopsis of the article. The
summary should also include a brief reflection on how the student will use the information from
the article in his or her career as a counselor. Be sure to provide a reference of the article in APA
style on the last page. Check the latest revision of the APA Manual or the APA Library
Guidelines for APA writing style information.
