Towards the end of the required video for this week, Ms. Vickery discusses the idea that women artists, as reflected in the ones she chose to discuss this week, have moved past copying men (‘derivative’) and into creating new art forms entirely. In the “Post Your Introduction” forum, you discussed a female artist that you respect.
 
Considering all that you have learned in this course, put your female artist in historical perspective. Of the many artists we have discussed in this course, who is she most like and why? Is she creating a new art form, or is she competing on her own terms in an art still dominated by men? Is she a product of third or fourth wave feminism, and why? Do you respect and admire her as much now as you did when you started this course? Why or why not?
