Read Part 4, Chapter 14, pg. 115 in your textbook, A Guide to Public Speaking.  While reading “Motivate the Audience to Accept Your Goals” on page 115, pay attention to how speakers can convey what the audience stands to gain by the information you will be sharing with them. 
Think about how people pay attention to things that affect them directly.  Therefore, as a speaker we must always relate the topic to the audience.
