As a whole, The Divine Comedy shows that we can only be our truest selves when we are reflecting God’s glory back to him. Perfect happiness for Beatrice is simply looking at God eternally.  The souls in the Inferno are cut off from that perfect happiness, though, because of their choice to pursue their own desires instead of God’s glory.
