The area I choose to focus on is workplace safety.

On a scale of 1-5, how interested are you in this topic?

On a scale of 1-5, I would say a 4.

What two organizations will you research?

Amazon and UPS.

What are the stated business purpose, mission, and values of the organizations you selected?

Amazons mission and purpose is to be the most customer-centric company, and its values are customer satisfaction and to deliver results.

UPS mission and purpose is to be the leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics services. Its values are integrity, quality, safety and diversity.

How does each organization serve its stakeholders in the focus area you chose?

Describe specifically how will you measure the effectiveness of these organizations?

Is there sufficient data on their websites? If so, what kind of data is there?

How will you evaluate those testimonials?

What questions will you answer for each organization and why? [Please list each question separately and provide your reasoning.]

Incident rates: I will look at incident rates of both companies because incident rates provide a look into the safety performances of both organizations.

Safety training and education practices: I will research both safety training practices of both organizations, because properly trained employees have a better chance of identifying and reducing workplace hazards.

Safety Inspection Procedures: research inspection procedures because regular inspection can highlight if certain safety measures are effective or if they need improvement.

What is your initial impression about the efforts of each organization benefit society and/or the community around them?

My initial impression is that even though both organizations have made amazing contributions, they both have areas for improvement. They both need to work on labor practices and sustainability efforts.

What is your initial impression about how the efforts of each organization be improved upon to benefit society and/or the community around them?

They can improve by better community engagement and better workers’ rights and caring more about worker well-being.

What challenges do you think you might face in evaluating these organizations?

Certain data not being available or transparent. Selective reporting can make things difficult

What steps might help you overcome those challenges?

Finding different resources from the company websites or its affiliates. And looking for review and evaluations from former workers and consumers.
