Choose one computer application from this week’s list of research objects. This might be Yuja Video Analytics, Canvas New Analytics, Dropout Detective, or Turnitin. You are welcome to focus your description on the provided website link, or your own personal experience with this application.
1. Focusing on either Marshall McLuhan or Lev Manovich, what aspects of this scholar’s definition of new/computer media are in evidence in this computer application’s self-description of its functionality and/or its user interface? Use your own description and at least one quote from your chosen scholar to argue your point.
2. Focusing on both N. Katherine Hayles and Shoshana Zuboff, explain how these two scholars would understand this computer application as a learning environment. Does this application attempt to realize the symbiotic relationship that Hayles describes? Does it emphasize hyper-reading, or close-reading? Or does this program enforce the “division of learning” that Zuboff describes? Or both? Use your own description and at least one quote from each scholar (2 quotes in total) to argue your point.
Excluding your introduction, your discussion should total approximately 350-500 words. 350 words minimum.
