Last week, we discussed Mark and Anna’s battle over completing the household chores. Let’s consider this couple again. Let’s assume that Mark has a full-time job and is the financial provider for the family. Anna quit her job when she had their first child to be a stay-at-mom. Mark and Anna typically have interpersonal conflicts on managing money, which is typically completed by Mark, and household tasks, which typically fall to Anna. What role might power play in these conflicts for Mark and Anna? What type of power is it? Does Mark have more power over Anna because he works and handles the money? How might Mark and Anna renegotiate this power imbalance?
