Coping with Stress
The issue of stress has had growing impacts on the lives of people today. Cases of stress continue to increase, stirring conversations on the causes, effects, as well as management techniques. In essence, stress may result in far-reaching consequences without the intervention of proper stress management techniques and procedures. The issue that I aim to address is about stress management and the need for intervention, considering the rising number of stress among people. I will find not only the various means of managing stress but also the most effective that will impact the majority of the population who are at potential risk and those who are facing stressful conditions. Through the use of various research findings, I will generate critical information that will help to address stress (Reddy, Menon, & Thattil, 2018).

This study aimed to determine the existence of stress among students. It also sought to establish the presence of stress between genders and across streams. The authors noted that ‘Understanding the source from the different spheres will enable professionals in the field to tailor-make intervention for students combining the most effective strategies (Reddy, Menon, & Thattil, 2018).’ I can use this article to cement my foundations that stress can develop from a younger age. As the article suggests, people think that students are least affected by stress (Reddy, Menon, & Thattil, 2018). The article further established its findings from the fact that these issues can be detrimental to the students, especially among specific groups. The risk groups, as the article notes, were students from the engineering and medical fields of study. However, findings indicate that students, too, can develop stress from a younger age in academic institutions (Reddy, Menon, & Thattil, 2018). The article further provides information regarding the possible solutions to stress, such as yoga, mindfulness meditation, and life-skills training, among others.

The article talks about the effects of stress on primary physiological body systems. The authors of this journal article conducted this research to evaluate how stress impacts these systems, and the overall health outcomes. The authors noted that ‘Stress can be either a triggering or aggravating factor for many diseases and pathological conditions (Yaribeygi, Panahi, Sahraei, Johnston, & Sahebkar, 2017). Furthermore, this article is relevant to my topic from the fact that it informs about the human impacts that develop from undergoing stressful situations. More so, it suggests some of the interventions that can help alleviate the conditions by those affected.
The article derives its purpose from background information stating that the receptors and hormones do not have a connection with the central nervous system (CNS) (Yaribeygi, Panahi, Sahraei, Johnston, & Sahebkar, 2017). However, related researches that have been conducted within the past fifty years establish that stress has various effects on the human nervous system. The article provides information regarding stress from the fact that it affects not only the brain but also other primary organs. Yaribeygi, Panahi, Sahraei, Johnston, & Sahebkar, (2017) provide information concerning the solutions by suggesting pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions such as medications and daily exercise, respectively.

This article sought to assess the effectiveness of stress management training in improving the vitality as well as the psychological well-being of students of Shahed University. Forty participants were selected to take part, putting into consideration their different streams and gender (Alborzkouh, Nabati, Zainali, Abed, & Ghahfarokhi, 2015). The research article justified its purpose from the background information suggesting that the challenges students face in academics pose health risks, thus affecting their ability to learn. As such, the article sought to intervene, while at the same time assessing the impact of stress management training on the psychological and vitality status of students (Alborzkouh, Nabati, Zainali, Abed, & Ghahfarokhi, 2015).
Alborzkouh, Nabati, Zainali, Abed, & Ghahfarokhi, (2015) provide information from the results, which showed an impact of these interventions on their psychological well-being, as well as vitality statuses. The article notes that ‘It created interest and motivation in people’s lives as well as increasing the self-confidence of the individuals. As a result, it increased the psychological well-being’ (Alborzkouh, Nabati, Zainali, Abed, & Ghahfarokhi, 2015). The article also provides information on solutions among the most vulnerable groups who comprise students from medicine and engineering fields. That said, this article will be useful in addressing how to evaluate the impacts of various stress management interventions, as well as to advocate for the need to acknowledge and address the issue of increasing stress cases among individuals.

All my sources of information were from credible sites and people. The first article had a .org domain suffix, which represents an organization. The other two sources had a .gov domain suffix indicating they were from institutions belonging to the government. As such, they can be relied upon to provide information that has been researched before publishing them to the general public, including academicians and scholars.
More so, the sources were recent, with the first article dating to 2018 while the second and third from 2017 and 2015, respectively. As such, the sources can be relied on to produce recent information that is not obsolete. Nonetheless, information regarding the authors of all articles is published and available at the websites from which the journals were retrieved. As such, it indicates the sense of accountability for information being generated to the public.
- What information do the sources provide about the problem or solution(s) on which the writer is focusing?
First, all the sources were crucial in providing vital information regarding the topic of stress. The first article established information pertaining to the causes of stress among individuals, especially among students. The fact that these students have individual and social responsibilities within and out of the learning institutions established the reason for conducting the research. The second article assessed the impacts of stress on an individual’s health, particularly on primary body organs. The third article analyzed the effectiveness of stress management training on individuals in an attempt to promote their psychological well-being.
- What questions do you have about the information from the sources?
Even though my sources were credible, one of the questions I would ask is about the extent of the literature review that the authors conducted before making their arguments. This question will give an insight into the reliability of the information provided by the authors on the bases of currency, and shreds of evidence, among other factors.
- What improvements can the writer make to APA style?
The writer should make an effort to ensure that there is as much information as possible bibliography in the bibliography fields. Also, the writer should always ensure that they correctly adhere to the APA guidelines. This adherence will enhance the need for similar practices by academicians and scholars when referring to available sources.
