The reliability of a source should be evaluated by the student before selecting it for use in the project. Relevant sources should speak directly to the research question and have a specific connection to the argument being made.Appropriate Tools, Methods, and Strategies: Students should effectively use search tools and library resources to find relevant and reliable sources. At least one source must be from an academic journal.Summary of Sources: Each entry in the annotated bibliography should begin with an objective summary of the source. The summary should outline the main points of the source in the student’s own words.Evaluation and Usefulness of Sources: After the summary of the source, the annotation should include an evaluation of the source and ideas for its usefulness. The evaluation will be the student’s opinion of strengths, weaknesses, limitations, etc. of the source. For the usefulness, the student will examine how this source can be used for the project or how it would fit.Revision of Annotations: After each annotation is submitted each week, the student will receive feedback from the instructor. Students will use this feedback to make any needed additions, changes, deletions, or other revisions to the annotation. Upon the submission of the complete annotated bibliography with all four sources, the finished product should show evidence of motivated revisions.
