Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required by the RN. To be able to effectively critically think and problem solve the RN must be able to reflect on their own knowledge and skills. To facilitate the development of this skill you are required to undertake a self-reflection of your NURS13124 Critical Care Nursing assignment. Assignment Task

You are the Registered Nurse on duty for the afternoon shift. Your shift commenced in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), of a regional hospital at 1430 hours. Examine the case study of Margaret

Cronin that is available on the course moodle site and address the following questions. Be sure to clearly relate your answers to the client in the case study:

Assess the client in the case study and identify their care needs. Be sure to include an analysis of the impact of the biopsychosocial and pathophysiological responses of the client to complex alterations in their health (Maximum 500 words).
Demonstrate understanding of collaborative care needs of the client in the case study and the use of diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions to determine the extent of the client’s responses to complex alterations in health (Maximum 500 words).
Prioritise the nursing care needs of the client in the case study. This will have quite a few subheadings within., (you may referr to the attached assignment for more clarification.) Develop a plan of care for your client for your 8 hour shift that recognises the special needs of this client. Please note, this should not be a nursing care plan but a plan of what you would do for the client in the case study and the priorities in which you would do them during your 8 hour shift. Be sure to include ethical and legal issues as well as nursing interventions to assist family members cope with their loved one’s illness and hospitalisation
