Historically most SCBA was rated at 30 minutes, with a practical limitation of 20 minutes for the average firefighter. In recent years SCBA has been developed that will last 60 minutes. With this in mind, do you think it is a good thing to develop and use SCBA that will allow firefighters to spend more time in an elevated temperature atmosphere with toxic gases or should their time exposed be limited by continuing to use the 30 minute SCBA? Explain your answer
