John Durham Peters said “there is no form of communication without a medium.” (267). In your major program at NC State, you have doubtlessly used multiple kinds of media to both learn new information and complete assignments.

Describe one of the media you used in your discipline, either to complete an assignment, to study, to track information, or to understand it. In your response, briefly describe the MESSAGE, MEANS, and AGENTS that make up the medium you select.

Stretch your brain! Remember that media studies scholars have considered things as broad as electric light, fire, radioactive material, paper forms, blood samples, and roads/canals as media. They all communicate information, after all!
