Introduction It is quite disheartening to see the youth of North Eastern

It is quite disheartening to see the youth of North Eastern Georgia go through the school-prison pipeline as they continue to commit crimes. The main problem that this research seeks to address is the lack of positive activities for the youth in North East Georgia. The shift from punitive practices in reducing youth delinquency to community-based initiatives has been shown to reduce crime rates. Communities that have established facilities, which would offer the youth a sense of community and expose them to different activities, are at the forefront in reducing youth delinquency. North-East Georgia lacks many positive activities, which the youth can engage in, leaving them to engage more in the negative and destructive activities. There is only a recreation department in the region, which is not sufficient to satisfy the population’s needs.

Problem Statement

This aims to create awareness to local officials on the challenge of rising crime rates and their effects on the youth in the community. The second purpose of the report is to influence policymakers and the local officials towards a model of community-based

interventions to reduce the youth crime rates in the region. The community-based model will involve building a youth facility with a diverse range of programs for the youth to gain positive activities that they can engage in instead of looking to crime. The report also aims to add to the existing literature on the avenues available for youth and their families to prevent crimes and rehabilitate youth in the criminal justice system.

From the research, the most effective strategy to reduce youth crime rates in the North East Georgia region is building a youth facility. The recommendation is to have a youth facility with programs such as athletics, culinary arts, crafts, artistry, photography, summer camps, afterschool programs, and tutoring sessions. The facility will also have behavioral intervention and ethics programs to cater to the youth who have behavioral problems. The behavioral intervention and ethics program will also cater to the needs of the general youth population through training on ethical responsibilities and strategies to live responsibly within the community. Summarily, the research process has helped me learn that the success of this project will take team effort and interventions. It is quite an ambitious and potentially costly project, which necessitates patience in its implementation. However, the benefits that the Georgian community will reap from the project supersedes the cost. Hence, there should be a keen focus on implementing a facility that would provide the youth with positive engagement activities.

The purpose of the youth facility is to help reduce the crime rates and gang affiliation that involves the youth in the North East Georgia communities. This facility will also provide tutoring services, so that the youth can receive free extra help on their school assignments if they need it. Most of the discipline students have a hard time focusing on their school work and this is why the become distractions. This facility will also provide the necessary resources for parents who have have discipline or learning disabilities within their children. This will allow for better performance in the school system and good citizens in the community.
