It’s easy to explain why you are for or against something, but it’s much more challenging to look at something from both sides of the argument. This assignment asks that you tackle this difficult task.
Choose one (1) of the controversial issues from the document attached to this assignment and do the following:
➢ Research BOTH sides of the argument (in other words—explain why some people are in favor of this issue and why some people are against this issue).
➢ Give three (3) reasons that support why a person WOULD be in favor of the issue and also give three (3) reasons that support why a person WOULD NOT be in favor of the issue.
➢ Conclude the essay with your own opinion on the issue and state which supporting detail(s) helped you to come to this conclusion
Here’s a brief outline:
1. Section One: Introduce and explain the topic in detail and highlight any important history on the topic
2. Section Two: Explain three (3) reasons why a group of people are in favor of this issue and provide at least one (1) source that supports this group’s stance
3. Section Three: Explain three (3) reasons why a group of people would be against this issue and provide at least one (1) source that supports this group’s stance
4. Section Four: Discuss your own perspective of this issue and what evidence was the most convincing to you.
