Reports from the United States Unemployment Rate data, calendar of releases, and historical charts were updated lately in February 2020. The reports show that recently in January 2020, the American unemployment rates increased to 3.6% above market prospects compared to the preceding months, 3.5%. Unemployment levels rose to 139,000 employees, while employment levels dropped to 89,000 employees. Joblessness has become a common social problem in the United States, with the youths being the most affected group. This has resulted in other related issues, such as increased poverty levels, social crimes, and so on. This research proposal paper focusses on the causes of unemployment, the effects of unemployment, government solution to unemployment, and public participation in solving the problem of unemployment.
Firstly, unemployment is usually caused by various challenges. For example, frictional unemployment may occur if an employer decides to lay off employees or refuses to employ workers due to reasons not associated with the economy. Secondly, increased unemployment rates have numerous effects on the society. For instance, a country with high numbers of unemployed citizens is likely to experience increased poverty levels. It will mean that most people will not be able to acquire basic needs, such as food and healthcare. Thirdly, the government should come up with ways of lowering unemployment rates in the US. For instance, the government should increase its expenditure in various industries to promote employment in those areas. Fourthly, public participation in solving the joblessness menace is highly recommended. For example, the public should be promoting education and develop skills suitable in the economic sector.
In summary, joblessness is a national crisis that is very crucial towards a country’s development. Identifying the root cause of unemployment and coming up with the best methods of controlling it can be at the best interest of the American population.
