Louisiana is sinking into the ocean. Sea levels are rising. Salt water is intruding into the marshes largely as a result of oil-exploration related canal dredging. Further, Louisiana was in 2010 the site of one of the largest oil spills in history, the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
Meanwhile, Louisiana and the waters off of our coast contain abundant fossil fuels and a large portion of the state’s economy depends on mining these deposits. What should we do?
