Air Force Report: Humanitarian Relief Operations

            The video I selected is titled ‘Air Force Report: Humanitarian Relief Operations’. This video talks about the use of military transport to provide humanitarian aid to Nepal citizens who had been affected by an earthquake. The aircraft being used to provide help is a Yokota C-130 military aircraft (AirForceTv, 2015). This form of assistance not only involves help from the 374^th Airlift Wing, but also collaboration from other government agencies, and the American people in general. This call for help came from the government of Nepal through the United States ambassador to Nepal. 

Interesting Points

            Indeed, there are key points that I found captivating. These include the form of assistance that the Airlift Wing had to offer from aeromedical evacuation, aerial delivery as well as airdrops. The fact that the crew was able to provide these services with the help of the aircraft is interesting. What I also find interesting is the quick response by the United States government and the commitment of the military crew to deliver fast and essential aid to the people of Nepal. This act shows strong and positive international relations and it is a recommendable job by the military. It also shows that the military, despite its known nature of combat, is capable of offering hope, faith as well as life-sustaining supplies.

Lessons

            Various lessons can be learned from the video including the readiness to offer assistance in times of need. The commitment of the military to aid in offering services and a wide range of services that could be offered are among the lessons learned. The military aircraft can carry loads of medical equipment and personnel who are crucial in such operations. The Wing also has trained personnel who are ready to provide assistance in such conditions and offer life-sustaining supplies (374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs, 2015).
