Milestone 1: Practice Issue and Evidence Summary
Due at the end of Week 3.
For completion of this milestone, you will identify a quality care or patient safety issue which raises concerns regarding positive patient outcomes. You’ll articulate the what, who, when, and why of the issue and how it might be resolved.
You’ll formalize your initial ideas to develop a PICOT question: Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time. You’ll also review research literature to explore data concerning the issue and possible evidence-based strategies to improve patient outcomes connected with the issue. Finally, you’ll analyze your approach to solving the problem using the ACE Star Model of Knowledge Transformation© developed by K. R. Stevens at the School of Nursing at the UT Health Science Center, San Antonio (Stevens, 2012).

Step 5: Research
Conduct a literature review using CINAHL or other databases in the American College of Education Library. Locate 3 research articles published within the last 5 years which identify and support a change in practice. Review the abstract and results section to identify if the research supports your intervention.
