Persuasive Speech Assignment

*Topic- Select a specific world problem that needs attention.  Use Monroe’s Motivated Sequence to present the problem and a creative solution.

*The time limit for the informative speech is 5 minutes

*Use a full sentence outline- follow Monroe’s Motivated Sequence format

*No note cards or Powerpoint outlines

*No visual is required

*Typed presentation outline

*Tape your speech with a cell phone or webcam.  You need to stand not sit for this speech.  You also need an audience of at least three adults who actually watch the speech- pan the audience before presenting the speech. The audience must listen to the entire speech.

*Upload the speech to YouTube.  Use unlisted. You are required to use YouTube for this assignment.   Make sure that you have appropriate volume on your video.  I don’t give any credit for just an outline or for video links I can’t open.  Download your video link, speech outline and annotated works cited page to “Assignments.”

*Persuasive Speech Evaluation Rubric:

Delivery: Audience of at least three adults, strong eye contact, avoided distracting mannerisms, articulated words clearly, avoided profanity, used persuasive voice, presented visual aids well, used gestures, and communicated enthusiasm for the topic.

Analysis: Well organized, followed the format, main points clear, language accurate, language clear, met time limit, and developed a typed outline.

Evidence: Main points fully supported, strong use of expert sources, expert sources identified, met research requirement.

Innovation: Strong attention getting introduction/conclusion, new and interesting supporting material, and innovative approach to the topic.
