Politics and Healthcare

A political system plays a critical role in improving the quality of care and reducing cost and also ensuring that health officials can achieve long-lasting and population-wide system changes that are aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals (Keepnews, 2012). Elected and nominated leaders always have a strong desire and motivation to work constructively with health officials in a mission of seeking practical approaches that would reduce not only the cost of healthcare but also enhance positive health outcomes (Hunter, 2016). Politics play a vital role in the health a community and particularly politicians ensure that the health of the people who elected them is catered for through ensuring that a health policy is generated, enclosing on every perception that may be regarding the severity of the health problem, the different responsibilities for the problem, and also the population that has been affected by the problem.

The federal government also plays a vital role in the quality of healthcare systems in facilities as it regulates finances that are aimed at improving such systems. Such improvements are effected by mandatory health insurance and social insurances like Medicare (Straube, 2013). The government also oversees the safety and quality of pharmaceuticals and other medical services, public health initiatives, and even finance and promote research aimed at improving the quality of services provision and life for its citizens.
