Providing Peer Feedback:

Your role: Help a classmate improve their paper and practice giving helpful peer feedback! We will be using the “Glow and Grow” Method. For each section on the peer review form, you will provide one “Glow” (something that was done well) and one “Grow” (something that could be improved). You will be specific and clear when providing feedback.

You are not to make direct edits on the paper, rather suggestions that the author can choose to include/address. Do not make direct edits for spelling/grammar. Rather include a sentence in the feedback form that explains your confusion/concerns. Your feedback should be specific and clear.

I would suggest reading the paper through first without any interruptions. Then re-read the paper and provide your feedback (feedback form posted separately). Focus on idea development, clarity, and arrangement.

If you have a question about their methods or something about their research/interpretation/etc, ask! If it is unclear, they may want to explain it in their papers.

We do not write “This makes no sense, you need to fix it”. Instead, we write something like “I am having a hard time understanding what you mean here/how to interpret this result/etc. you may want to reword it so that it is clearer”.

The feedback you provide should be clear, directly related to the paper, and help your peer write a better final paper. You need to provide a relevant and professional ‘glow’ and ‘grow’ comment for each section in the peer review feedback form.
