Select a global issue addressing leadership and workforce development: Develop a thesis

Select a global issue addressing leadership and workforce development:

Develop a thesis statement to support your research topic

• Ask yourself this question: Is my thesis statement specific enough?

• Thesis statements that are too vague often do not have a strong argument.

• Does my thesis pass the “So what?” test?

• Does my essay support my thesis specifically and without wandering?

• Does my thesis pass the “how and why?” test?

Capstone Milestones:

1. Topic Proposal (thesis statement)** complete check outline

2. Research Proposal Statement (250-500 words)

3. Literature Review (750-1000 words)

4. Diversity (250-500 words) Ethics (250-500 words)

5. Synthesis (250-500 words) – submitted with Capstone draft

6. Final paper (putting it all together) will be between 2500-3000 words

What is a Literature Review?

A literature review is a critical summary of what the scientific literature says about your specific topic or question. • Discusses published information • Summary of sources as an organizational pattern combining both summary and synthesis • Helps evaluate sources • Advises the reader on the most relevant information • A standalone literature review typically contains the following sections: • Title page • Body/Content (including an introduction and summary/conclusion) • References Page • EOS 3 Capstone milestone: • APA format • Include a title page, intro, body, summary/conclusion, and a references page • 750-1000 words • Minimum of 3 references (final literature review will use at least 7 sources)

Diversity and Ethics Perspectives Diversity:

• Cultural perspectives & inequities • Analyze competing entities including disenfranchised/vulnerable groups • Address issues such as in-group favoritism, intergroup bias, etc. • Summarize cultural perspectives and perceived inequities Ethical implications • Analyze decision making and actions, social responsibility, applying specific ethical theories • Identify possible pathways to equitable solutions • Summarize compelling ethical issues

Synthesis :

• Findings—what you learned from the literature review and ethics and diversity sections • Advocate most equitable, ethical solution to meet needs of vulnerable and disenfranchised • Draw upon scholarly sources & previous sections to substantiate position

Next, organize your work in the order of the scaffolding assignments: Research Proposal, Literature Review, Diversity and Ethics, and Synthesis (submitted with Milestone 4 – Capstone Draft) Make sure you have APA citation information for all the additional scholarly sources you’ve gathered since your initial Literature Review. Based on feedback from your mentor, the final structure of your paper may or may not be the same as the draft submission. The Milestone assignments provide the general structure for your Capstone paper. While you may or may not come up with different titles for your level headings, it is important to ensure that your final Capstone paper contains all required elements. The structure of your paper helps with the overall flow and readability of your work by keeping you and the reader on track. Your final submission should follow the basic framework below.
