Simulated Action Plan Directions:
*writer feel free to embellish where needed
As you have learned as a classroom teacher, not every student you meet will fit neatly into the same mold. As a result, sometimes you will have to take steps to better understand your students and your role as their teacher.
For this assignment, you will write a simulated action plan that a teacher could implement. In your simulated action plan, you will define and write a clear depiction of your areas of concern in mathematics. The action plan will be completed in four sections:
Section One: Introduction
General description of your school
Include the school’s vision and mission statements
What grades and content you teach (1st grade, all subjects)
Describe your classroom (groups, rows, partners, word wall, anchor charts, etc.) 16 students, 4 groups of 4 students, All African American- 10 girls, 5 boys
Describe your student population (including gender, race, Students with Disabilities (none), English LanguageLearners (none)
Describe co-teacher (I have a para works with small groups during math and reading, 1 hour each) and the co-teaching model
Section Two: Curriculum Audit (you will conduct a brief audit (analysis) of the mathematics curriculum)
Using a tableformat, describe your School’s Improvement Plan (SIP) for the academic math
for three years. *Note: Due to the pandemic the SIP might not have changed for two years.
2.) Review, disaggregate and enter the results from the Georgia Milestone in Mathematics for 3 consecutive years in atable. 2020-2021 was optional testing, 2021-2022, 2022-2023
3.) Describe how is the GaDoe mathematics standards (curriculum) are aligned horizontally and vertically.
Horizontally align a mathematics standard in your grade level to another subject in the same grade level.
Vertically align one mathematics standard from the preceding (Kindergarten) and subsequent (2nd grade) grade level.
4.) Based on the results from the Georgia Milestone, do you believe that your school is going to achieve its most recentSIP goal?
If yes, determine another goal based on the data that you believe needs to be addressed and note it in the nextsection.
Do not forget to your subpopulation students
If no, what changes in practices, strategies, faculty, administration, curriculum, etc. needs to be addressedto accomplish the SIP goal?
Do not forget to your subpopulation students
Section Three: Areas of Improvement & Decisions/Strategies
(Research required – in-text citations and references are required). Failure to include in-text citations and references will yield a zero for this section.
Based on the content you have completed for the first two sections, determine what are the next steps. Using your textbookand three (3) current journal articles (2011 – 2021), research some ideas for effective strategies, supporting the curriculum, student engagement, teaching practices, gifted learners, knowledge acquisition, etc.
Your textbook is a great resource (section II or chapters 8 – 23) for strategies, activities, and examples you are expected to pull from to help you with some ideas you would implement to better engage, support, and increase the student’s achievement in mathematics.
Section Four: Conclusion
Conclusively package all of the sections together to deduct a logical analysis of what your school can do to meet the school’s improvement plan or your determined goal to support and improve student achievement in some area of mathematics for all students in your building regardless of gender, race, SES, SWD, or ELL status.
This assignment should be a minimum of five (5) complete (double-spaced) pages in length not including the title or referencepages. However, if tables and charts were included (per the rubric), a 5-page minimum would be insufficient. Please type your paper in Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, one-inch margins; left justified (not block) also known as APA style writing. No running head is required. Please be sure to use proper APA style citations in your paper. Please paraphrase all work (see syllabus for point loss for using quotes).
Please use the following headers:
