The essay is to be based upon any outside sources you may choose to use. You must use academic sources: not Sparknotes, Cliffnotes, Wikipedia, or material from a blog or discussion board. Any instance of these sites being used will be penalized heavily. Use the MLA style of documentation. The essay is to have a minimum of : 1200 words, excluding citations, and the work cited page. Late papers, will not be accepted.  You will discuss the moral theory of utilitarianism developed by Jeremy Bentham, and later turned into a more modern theory, by John Stuart Mill. The question at stake is: Can good or bad be reduced to the single question of what produces pleasure or happiness for the greatest number of people.
