THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF APA FORMATTING 4

THIS SHOULD BE SHORTER VERSION OF PAPER TITLE 1

Title should be no more than 12 words and should not contain abbreviations or words that serve no purpose.

Author (that’s you!)

Affiliation (your university)

Put the title of your paper here

All paragraphs in the body of your paper should be indented (APA, 2009). The end of the previous sentence is an example of a citation in parenthetical format. Smith, Jones, Johnson and Williams (2012) is a made up study to show you another way to create an in-text citation. Smith et al., is a made up study to show you how to complete subsequent citations with multiple authors for an in-text citation.

Put your introduction here: introduce the treatment and the ethical dilemma that is present for a clinician faced with the choice of using this treatment. Remember to cite all articles you refer to, put anything directly copied in quotations and put the page number you found the info from. All quotations should be copied EXACTLY as it is written in the article you are taking the quote from (copying verbatim, YEAR, p. XX). DO NOT refer to an article by the title, always refer to articles by authors and year published

Paraphrasing is putting someone else’s ideas into your own words. This does not mean you right-clicked on a word and just changed one or two words. It means you took someone else’s words and said it differently, in your own words. The following is an example of a direct quotation and how you can paraphrase that information, included are the appropriate citations, per the APA. Since the following direct quote is over 40 words, quotation marks are not needed because the entire paragraph is indented.

Figure 1 (top) depicts the occurrence of SIB across conditions during the functional analysis. The mean percentage duration of SIB was 23% in the attention condition, 2.5% in the ignore condition, and 0.3% in the play condition. SIB never occurred in the demand or tangible conditions. Thus, the results of the functional analysis suggest that SIB was maintained by positive reinforcement in the form of contingent attention delivery (Dorey, Rosales-Ruiz, Smith, & Lovelace, 2009, p. 787).

The following 2 sentences are paraphrased so that you can see how the above quotation can be paraphrased. The results of the functional analysis indicated that Rafiki’s SIB was maintained by socially mediated access to attention, this was delivered by zoo keepers when they observed Rafiki engage in SIB. Rafiki rarely engaged in SIB when demands were delivered or to gain access to tangible items (Dorey et al., 2009).

Unethical Behavior

Here you should identify a reason a BCBA may engage in unethical behavior related to using this non-evidence based treatment as a clinician and what contingencies would be in place that would lead the BCBA to engage in this behavior. You should also tell me the reinforcers for using this non-evidence base treatment and the ethical codes which apply to this ethical dilemma.

Ethical Behavior

Here you should identify a reason a BCBA may engage in ethical behavior related to refusing to use this non-evidence based treatment as a clinician and what contingencies would be in place that would lead the BCBA to engage in this behavior. You should also tell me the reinforcers for refusing to use this non-evidence base treatment and the ethical codes which apply to this ethical dilemma.

Resolving the Dilemma

Here you should tell me your recommended course of action to resolve dilemma or avoid it in the first place.
