Title: Echoes of Tomorrow: The Prophetic Visions of H.G. Wells

Topic: For my 4-part assignment series I have decided to dive into the vibrant interrelationships that exist between science fiction and the development of society through the visionary work of H.G. Wells. Often called the father of science fiction, Wells captivated the imaginations of people with his stories and predicted transfigurations in both technology and society with impressive accuracy. This series will delve deeply into the biography of Wells, with particular attention given to his education, technological predications, and social-political contexts. Consider such great political views and the scenario in his works like “The Time Machine,” “The War of the Worlds,” and “The World Set Free”—how his futuristic ideas and predictions reflect our technology and problems within society today. This research will be relevant in understanding sci-fi in two aspects—firstly, as a two-way avenue between real-world technological innovation and influence, and secondly, from the way it criticizes and envisions progression in sociocultural life. Wells’s work is an ideal example befitting the study of the crossing points of imagination, science, and changes in society.
