Identify and evaluate what in the film creates and sustains the scares. Questions to consider: What makes the villain scary in the film? Is it his or her appearance? Is it what he or she does to other characters? For example, does the villain/shadow commit any acts that are considered taboo to some? If so, what are they? How could the villain in the film represent some aspect of society? For example, does the villain represent the oppression of the poor by the wealthy? Youth vs older generations? Isolate and analyze a couple of scenes from the film to examine in detail in order to support your reasoning. Use what you have learned about Mise en Scène to help you analyze the scenes.
