I do believe that Texas should legalize small amounts of marijuana in the state of Texas. However, I think Texas should legalize marijuana for the first reason because I believe marijuana can be used for the good of medicine. For example, marijuana can be used to help cure Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome stated by the FDA that it can help heal and help clear people’s minds. This is one of the main reasons why I believe Texas should legalize a small amount of marijuana.
Another reason why I believe Texas should legalize a small amount of it is that some people get pulled over for it and get charged with having a small amount of marijuana. It’s a crime that ends them up in prison and on probation. However, probation isn’t straightforward. You just stay in one place, and you can’t leave for a specific time that is incorrect. Probation means you will have to be tested daily and ensure that you aren’t drinking or doing anything like going to the bar. So even if someone only has a tiny amount of marijuana in their car in the state of Texas, you will still have to stay where you live, and you can’t drink. Smoking and drinking are very different. I find it unfair to limit people from drinking just because they wanted to calm themselves down with just a tiny amount of marijuana.
Overall if a small amount of marijuana becomes legalized, I believe the people on probation or in jail for just the tiny amount should be let go. However, if this does happen, they need to change the punishments for people who smoke marijuana because what is a small amount now if this new law becomes a thing? I believe a small amount will be changed and other people will be let go then.
